Winery history Château Branas Grand Poujeaux

The estate was acquired by Justin Onclin in 2002; since then a major programme to improve quality and to enhance the expression of individual parcels and blends has been pursued. Official sources report steady improvements in quality under the current ownership.

Production philosophy

The approach combines respect for the cru’s heritage with innovation: plot-by-plot winemaking, the use of barriques and amphorae for part of the ageing, and management committed to environmental sustainability through certified practices. The technical team includes a resident winemaker and, since 2012, a collaboration with Hubert de Boüard.

Terroir and vineyards

Located on the Grand Poujeaux plateau, between the châteaux Poujeaux and Chasse‑Spleen, the vineyard rests on Garonne gravels, which promote drainage and deep rooting. The official pages state the estate values distinct parcels, but they give two different figures for the area, so the exact surface area is inconsistent across sources.
