Winery history Château du Tertre

The estate has ancient origins tied to the seigneury of Arsac. The château was built around the 18th century and the estate gained international renown with the 1855 Classification, which listed it among the Fifth Growths of Margaux. In the 20th century the property passed through several owners; it was rebuilt and revitalized after the interventions of Philippe Gasqueton and, from 1997, has been the focus of significant investment under the Albada Jelgersma family. In January 2021 operational management was entrusted to the Helfrich family/Les Grands Chais de France through a management agreement.

Production philosophy

A balance between respect for Bordeaux tradition and modern interventions: careful vineyard management, selective parcel-by-parcel vinification and attention to the terroir to produce elegant wines in the Margaux style, while pairing the grand vin with a more approachable second wine.

Terroir and vineyards

Located in the Margaux appellation, in the commune of Arsac, the estate lies on Médoc-typical soils of gravel and sand mixed with silt and clay, which favour the cultivation of Bordeaux varieties.

Awards and recognitions
