Winery history Cupano

Ornella Tondini and Lionel Cousin moved from Paris to Montalcino in the 1990s. They purchased Podere Centine in 1994 and began planting vineyards toward the end of the decade; the first recorded harvest was in 2000. The estate was restored after a long period of inactivity and developed using organic farming methods and a careful selection of vines.

Production philosophy

Low-impact vineyard practices, use of organic methods, controlled yields and minimal intervention in the cellar. Respectful winemaking with indigenous yeasts, aging in Burgundian-style barriques, without filtration or fining to showcase the wines' elegance and evolution.

Terroir and vineyards

Podere Centine is located southwest of Montalcino, close to the village of Camigliano, on a hill overlooking the Ombrone valley. The soils are clay-sandy with a notable presence of pebbles, and the site benefits from maritime breezes despite being about 30 km from the sea.
