Winery history Domaine Alain Jeanniard

The Jeanniard family was already cultivating vineyards in the 18th century. Alain Jeanniard returned to carry on the family estate at the end of the 20th century. He managed parcels for the Hospices de Beaune for a time before dedicating himself fully to his own domaine; in 2003 he also established a négociant company to purchase and vinify grapes from selected parcels.

Production philosophy

The estate emphasizes the quality of the raw material and sustainability: integrated pest management, a ban on herbicides, hand-harvesting and grape selection. Winemaking is traditional, with moderate use of sulfur, maturation in wood and bottling at the estate.

Terroir and vineyards

Located in the commune of Morey-Saint-Denis, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, the domaine works on calcareous and clay-limestone soils typical of Burgundy; it owns vineyards across several crus in the area and leases and manages parcels in neighboring communes such as Pommard, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Fixin, Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny.

Awards and recognitions

High Environmental Value certification.
