Winery history Domaine Matha

Domaine Matha is a family-run estate based in Bruéjouls / Clairvaux-d'Aveyron. Jean‑Luc Matha is recognised as a key figure in the revival of the Marcillac appellation; the estate embodies a history rooted in local generations and the preservation of the traditional practices of the Marcillac valley.

Production philosophy

Priority is given to respecting the land and to low-intervention practices: hand-tended vineyards, a transition to organic viticulture, controlled fermentations in concrete to preserve the fruit, and a measured use of wood for aging. Emphasis on wines that express the terroir of the Rougier without artifice.

Terroir and vineyards

Vines cultivated on terraces on the red Rougier soils and on clay-limestone/Rougier soils in the Marcillac vallon; south-facing exposure and a microclimate sheltered from the winds of the Massif Central.
