Winery Francesco Vezzelli

Discover the story, territory and wines of Francesco Vezzelli.

Azienda Agricola Francesco Vezzelli (Modena), operating since 1958, producing Lambrusco and sparkling wines typical of the Modena area. Vineyards in the Secchia river floodplain and on the Castelvetro hills; annual production reported at about 130,000 bottles. Specialties: Lambrusco di Sorbara and Lambrusco Grasparossa.

Winery history Francesco Vezzelli

Founded in 1958 by Delmo Vezzelli together with his son Francesco; today the estate is run by the third generation, led by Roberto Vezzelli. The family business developed with a focus on Lambrusco and local winemaking.

Production philosophy

Quality-driven production: hand harvesting with grape selection, yield limitation via green pruning and cluster thinning, use of integrated pest management and sustainable practices (including mechanical weeding for over 25 years). Emphasis on perfectly conditioned grapes for winemaking and on territorial typicity.

Terroir and vineyards

Vineyards mainly in the floodplain areas of the Secchia river (loamy soils rich in nitrogen and minerals considered suitable for Sorbara) and hilly sites in Castelvetro for Grasparossa. River flooding affects the soils (limo deposits) and the agronomic practices adopted for soil protection and management.
