Winery history Gualdo del Re

Originally established as a mixed agricultural estate in Suvereto, the winery progressively specialized in viticulture from the 1980s. The arrival of oenologist Barbara Tamburini in the early 2000s marked a shift toward single-varietal wines and crus. In 2022 the estate was acquired by Mauro Gestri, who initiated a plan to renovate and expand the vineyards and winery facilities.

Production philosophy

Enhance the identity of each grape variety by working in the vineyard and cellar with rigor and experimentation to achieve elegance, expressive clarity, and wines capable of conveying the character of the terroir.

Terroir and vineyards

Located in Suvereto, on a hillside amphitheatre overlooking the sea and the Island of Elba; the vineyards lie on mixed soils of clay, stone and silt and reach elevations of around 100 m above sea level. The estate cultivates about 27 hectares of vineyard.

The I’Rennero label has received numerous awards, medals and high scores over the years; the producer's website also highlights its prominent placement in the 'Mondo Merlot' competition for several consecutive vintages.
