Winery history Champagnes Coessens (Jérôme Coessens)

The Coessens family has cultivated vineyards in Ville-sur-Arce for generations. In 2006, after years as head of production for a major Champagne house, Jérôme Coessens decided to transform the family business into his own maison. Since 2008 his wife Valérie has assisted him in the company’s operations; in 2021 the house expanded its reach by acquiring a vineyard in Les Riceys.

Production philosophy

An approach focused on site and grape: highlighting the character of each cru through careful harvests, controlled winemaking and measured cellar interventions. Production favors Pinot Noir from old vines, with winemaking aimed at conveying the minerality and tension of the terroir.

Terroir and vineyards

Based in Ville-sur-Arce, in the southern part of Champagne. The Largillier monopole vineyard, on clay-limestone soils, is the estate’s focal point; the Les Riceys area, by contrast, is linked to the Pinotmaniac project.

Awards and recognitions

Finalist in the Jeune Talents du Champagne competition; received a "Coup de Coeur" mention from Revue du Vin de France for the Brut Nature.
