Winery history Tenuta di Lilliano

The village and estate of Lilliano have medieval origins; the property was acquired by the Berlingieri family in 1920 and wine bottling began with Princess Eleonora Ruspoli Berlingieri in 1958. The estate is currently managed by the brothers Giulio and Pietro Ruspoli, with Giulio in charge since the year indicated on the website.

Production philosophy

The estate aims to showcase the local area and Sangiovese, working to extract elegance and longevity from the wines through carefully controlled vinification, maturation in botti and tonneaux, and attentive vineyard management. The approach combines respect for the terroir with modern cellar techniques to produce balanced, long-lived wines.

Terroir and vineyards

The estate is located in Chianti Classico, between Castellina in Chianti and Monteriggioni. The soils are predominantly "alberese", which tends to delay ripening, promoting acidity and aromaticity; the main vineyards cited are Le Piagge, Casina Sopra Strada and Vigna Catena. The estate also states that its total landholding extends over hundreds of hectares, with the vineyards reported as 40 hectares.
