Winery history Maison Fortant

The history of Fortant is tied to the Skalli family: with roots in the early decades of the 20th century and a pioneering role in the development of single-varietal wines from southern France. Over time the Maison promoted the introduction of international grape varieties into the Languedoc, contributed to the creation of the Vin de Pays d’Oc and developed ranges dedicated to the region’s major terroirs. In 2011 Fortant formed an alliance with the Boisset group; in subsequent years it consolidated a portfolio of AOC and regional lines to showcase selected parcels.

Production philosophy

Fortant emphasizes vineyard work and the selection of the soils best suited to each grape variety. It maintains close relationships with growers and cooperatives, applies a vineyard-parcel monitoring protocol to guide targeted winemaking, and aims to express the distinctive character of southern terroirs through careful vinification.

Terroir and vineyards

Operating from the heart of the Mediterranean, the Maison sources from various areas of southern France, focusing on the coastal, hilly and mountainous terroirs of the Languedoc.
