Winery history Poggio Nibbiale

Family-owned winery established by Dr. Nikolaus Buchheim. The vineyards were planted in a landscape with Etruscan traces, and the winery uses a historic cellar beneath the church of San Giovanni Battista in Scansano for aging in wood.

Production philosophy

Strongly focused on respect for the land: organic farming, an artisanal approach in the winery, and emphasis on the rocky terroir and proximity to the sea to produce wines with a clear mineral and elegant character.

Terroir and vineyards

Located in the Tuscan Maremma, among hills at about 300 metres above sea level on very stony, calcareous soils, the vineyards face the Tyrrhenian Sea and derive their character from the sea breeze and the area's light.
