Winery history Specogna

The Specogna family is closely linked to the hills of Rocca Bernarda: according to official sources, Leonardo Specogna purchased the first plot in 1963, and the estate gradually evolved from a mixed subsistence operation into a producer of quality wines. Today the estate continues with the new generation, including Cristian and Michele, who have brought international visibility to the winery.

Production philosophy

The estate aims to express the character of the terroir through vineyard and cellar choices focused on quality: attention to the soil and vineyard location, careful harvesting, and winemaking designed to preserve varietal and regional identity. It also promotes projects related to sustainability and the cultural promotion of wine.

Terroir and vineyards

The vineyards are located on the hills of Rocca Bernarda in the Colli Orientali del Friuli. The soils mentioned for some wines are composed of marl and sandstone with hillside exposure, elements that contribute to the distinctive character of the wines produced.

Awards and recognitions

Publicly cited results and recognitions include the gold medal and a 96/100 score at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2021 for 'Identità' 2018; Cristian Specogna's inclusion in 'The World's Best 50 Young Winemakers'; mentions in Italian guides; and awards such as the Oscar Green for the winery's innovative initiatives.
