Winery history Taittinger

The Taittinger family built its business around the Château de la Marquetterie and the historic cellars of Reims. Pierre Taittinger acquired the estate and began expanding the family brand, which during the 20th century consolidated its international reputation through acquisitions, vineyard development and the creation of prestigious cuvées. The Maison's official website recounts the central role of the family and successive generations in the company's growth and in defining its style.

Production philosophy

Pursuit of quality, a strong connection to the land and a style rooted in finesse: the Maison emphasizes balance and elegance in its wines, with particular attention to Chardonnay as the distinctive element of the Taittinger style.

Terroir and vineyards

The vineyards and crus used by Taittinger extend across the main sub-regions of Champagne, with grapes sourced from numerous vineyards in the Montagne de Reims, Côte des Blancs and Vallée de la Marne. The Maison draws on Grands Crus from the Côte des Blancs for its most prestigious cuvées and employs winemaking and ageing methods in the historic crayères of Saint-Nicaise.

Awards and recognitions

The crayères associated with Taittinger are part of the "Coteaux, Maisons et Caves de Champagne" site, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
