Illva Saronno distillery
Illva Saronno S.p.A. was founded by the Reina family in 1947. Today it is a leading company in the world of spirits, which exports its products to over 160 countries around the world.
Illva, whose acronym stands for Industria Lombarda di Liquori Vini & Affini, is inspired by the ancient legend of the 16th century which narrates the exploits of the painter Bernardino Luini who created a painting in Saronno for the Sanctuary of the Madonna dei Miracoli. To paint the Madonna, he thought of a young innkeeper he had seen during his breaks, to thank him she gave him a liqueur made by her.
Years later, the Reina family managed to get the recipe for that delicious liqueur and began to produce it; for the sale they opened a small general store in the heart of Saronno, this was that the company was born.
That famous almond-flavored liqueur conquered the palates of the whole world in the period between the 70s and 80s; other famous brands were then distributed, including Rabarbaro Zucca, Isolabella, Aurum, Tia Maria, Artic Vodka and The Busker.
Today Illva Saronno continues its proposal of products under the sign of excellence, always projected towards innovation but without ever forgetting the ancient traditions.
