Distillation and production

Distillation and production

Production method

Production based on selection of fresh pomace, use of copper stills with a discontinuous steam bain-marie method, integration of the Zadra column to refine fraction separation and digital control to preserve the 'heart' of the distillate.

Distillation

Discontinuous steam bain-marie pot still distillation with Zadra columns for fraction selection and digital control of the phases; often carried out in single pass to preserve varietal profiles.

Ageing

Aging in small casks/barriques for the reserves; documented examples include 12–24 months of aging for some reserves (e.g. Koralis K24).

Producer history Distilleria G. Bertagnolli

Founded in 1870 in Mezzocorona by the Bertagnolli family, the company developed its own techniques over time (introduction of the Zadra column in 1949 and the steam bain-marie system in 1952). In the 1990s a digital distillation monitoring system was introduced; more recently (2020) the brand underwent a restyling and commemorative lines based on historic recipes were relaunched.

Production philosophy

Highlight local raw materials and the distillation tradition of the territory while maintaining focus on quality, traceability and technological innovation; a balance between artisanal craftsmanship and modern process control.

Territory

Piana Rotaliana, Mezzocorona (Province of Trento) — a territory well suited to Trentino grape varieties such as Teroldego, Marzemino and other varieties typical of Trentino.

Awards and recognitions

International awards and recognitions (e.g., medals at ISW, IWSC, Alambicco d'Oro; Bibenda with 5 Grappoli for some expressions such as DECEM).
