Production method

Artisanal small-batch production using copper pot stills (stills named Tara, Mhairi, Margaret and Frances); use of Scottish malted barley and water from Loch Katrine; products generally unchillfiltered and naturally coloured. Some expressions (e.g. 'Triple Distilled') are produced with triple distillation.

Distillation

Distillation in copper pot stills (discontinuous pot stills); small-batch production; the 'Triple Distilled' expression is distilled three times for a lighter, softer character.

Ageing

Ageing and finishing in a variety of cask types depending on the expression; products are generally not chill-filtered and contain no added colouring.

Producer history The Glasgow Distillery Company Ltd

Officially incorporated in 2012 by partners Liam Hughes and Mike Hayward, the distillery took shape between 2013 and 2015 in the Hillington industrial area of Glasgow. The first still arrived in 2014 and the first full cask of single malt was filled on 5 March 2015. The Glasgow 1770 line was launched in June 2018; production later expanded with additional stills, new releases (gin, rum, vodka, blended malt) and a series of small-batch expressions and experimental finishes.

To produce authentic, transparent and accessible spirits: artisanal work, open sharing of process information and products designed to be enjoyed without artifices or excessive marketing.
