Production method

Production is based on separate hydro-alcoholic infusions of the individual botanicals; there is also a concentrated version ("Tintura Importante") obtained from the mother tinctures alone. Sources describe the amaro production cycle as a long process (around 11 months). Reported alcohol strengths: Amaro approx. 30% vol.; Tintura Importante 60% vol.

Distillation

This is not a traditional distillate: production is based on separate hydro-alcoholic infusions of the botanicals; for the "Tintura Importante" the mother tinctures are used (high concentration, 60% vol.).

The Jefferson label draws inspiration from the figure of "Captain Jefferson" and from a historical recipe linked to the Calabrian liqueur tradition; the commercial version known as "Amaro Importante" is produced and relaunched by Vecchio Magazzino Doganale, a rural company based in Calabria. The label has been present on the market with several references and packagings since recent years (the range is also distributed through international partners).

Production philosophy

To promote local raw materials and sustainable agricultural practices: the botanicals are cultivated and selected within the rural estate associated with the producer and are processed using traditional methods to obtain natural, high-quality infusions.
