Polmos

Explore the spirits, production style and story of Polmos.

Polmos refers to the former Polish state spirits monopoly and, by extension, to the group of companies and facilities inherited from that structure. After the end of the monopoly in the 1990s, many plants and brands originally under the Polmos name became independent companies, each responsible for producing and marketing its own references.

Producer history Polmos

Polmos (acronym of Polski Monopol Spirytusowy) was the Polish state monopoly that controlled the production and distribution of alcoholic beverages in Poland from the 1920s and, in reorganized form, during the postwar period. After 1989 the monopoly was broken up: individual plants became independent entities and were progressively privatized. From these developments emerged numerous companies and brands well known in the world of Polish distillates.

Production philosophy

There is no single central philosophy today: the entities born from the split focus individually on quality, local tradition and their own product lines. In general terms, the Polmos legacy is linked to vodka and liqueur production based on established industrial methods adapted to the needs of each brand.
