Sagatiba was founded in 2004 by entrepreneur Marcos de Moraes. The brand positioned itself as a premium cachaça and contributed to the internationalisation of the category. In 2011 Sagatiba was acquired by the Campari Group (transaction completed in August 2011). The Sagatiba Cristalina expression is described by the producer as obtained through a multidistillation process aimed at greater purity.
