Production method

Production is based on double distillation in pot stills; the distillates are reduced and transferred to oak casks for maturation in brick warehouses. The facility uses multiple pot still sizes and post-distillation reduction procedures to achieve the desired profile.

Producer history Yushan (Nantou Distillery)

Production takes place at Nantou Distillery, managed by Taiwan Tobacco & Liquor Corporation (TTL). The facility has long-standing roots in TTL's operations and started whisky production in 2008; the site itself is part of TTL's Nantou activities. In recent years the Yushan brand has been used for commercial releases of blended malt and various single malt expressions created at Nantou.

Production philosophy

Production combines traditional Scottish malt techniques with elements of Taiwanese terroir: maturation in a subtropical climate, use of imported casks and experimentation with finishes that emphasize the fruity profiles typical of the region.

Awards and recognitions

In 2024 Yushan received international recognition: at the USA Spirits Ratings the brand earned gold medals (including awards for Bourbon Cask, Sherry Cask and Blended Malt) and at the New York World Spirits Competition (NYWSC) the expressions achieved, among others, a Double Gold (Bourbon Cask), a Gold (Blended Malt) and a Silver (Sherry Cask).
