Tenuta Roveglia

The history of this winery goes back a long way. The origins of the estate date back to 1404 when the Roveglio family bought land and farmhouses from the San Salvatore monastery in Brescia. Thus the name was born, but the adventure linked to wine has its beginning at the end of the nineteenth century, when Federico Zweifel left his native canton in Switzerland to find better working conditions in Italy.
Once he arrived, he immediately fell in love with Lake Garda, where he found a flourishing nature and land that proved to be suitable for the cultivation of vineyards. Thus he began to buy land and to transform those often abandoned fields into rows of vineyards. So did his son too That's right, starting to produce wine that was originally intended only for local friends and customers. For many years the production method remained the traditional one, which the farmers handed down from generation to generation.

A fundamental transformation took place in the 1980s when Giusto passed away, and his son Giovanni, now full professor of General Pathology at the University of Padua, took over the management of the Roveglia estate. He transferred all his passion for research and the courage for technological innovation to this winery. His experience as a scientist, at the head of internationally recognized laboratories, had increasingly convinced him that the best results are obtained above all through listening and dialogue between all collaborators.
Thanks to the indispensable experience of Paolo Fabiani, now director of the company and a precious collaborator of the family, a review of the production methods and the introduction of new methodologies and the most modern systems of winemaking began. This original combination of tradition and innovation, between love for the land and scientific research has meant that Tenuta Roveglia has been transformed over the years into a suggestive example of a modern winery linked to tradition. The wines of Tenuta Roveglia are born from this long history of passion, dedication, and a shared dream passed on for four generations.
