Vietti's Barbera d'Asti DOCG "La Crena" represents an example of excellence in the production of wines based on Barbera, a grape variety which in this expression reaches extraordinary levels of complexity and depth. Coming from the "La Crena" vineyard, with its very old vines, this wine is the result of a scrupulous selection of grapes and a refinement that combines tradition with the most modern winemaking techniques, always keeping respect for the fruit and the terroir.

On the face, "La Crena" presents a deep and brilliant ruby red color, which anticipates the olfactory and gustatory richness of the wine. On the nose, intense notes of ripe red fruit are immediately distinguishable, such as cherries and plums, accompanied by nuances of sweet spices, chocolate and a light balsamic touch, testifying to the careful use of wood which enriches the aromatic profile without ever overpowering the purity of the Barbera.

In the mouth, Vietti's Barbera d'Asti "La Crena" reveals a powerful yet harmonious structure, with a perfect balance between lively acidity and silky tannins. This wine expresses a surprising fullness and softness, which evolve into a long and persistent finish, where the fruity and spicy notes blend into a complex and enveloping aftertaste.

Ideal in combination with robust and tasty dishes, such as stewed red meats, game, mushroom-based dishes and mature cheeses, "La Crena" is also a wine that lends itself magnificently to solitary tasting, offering a sensorial journey that gradually reveals the multiple layers of aromas and flavors.

Winery history
The Vietti winery was founded at the end of the 19th century in Castiglione Falletto; in 1917 Mario Vietti transformed the estate into a business focused on producing quality wines. In the 1950s Alfredo Currado introduced technical and cultural innovations that led to the creation of one of Barolo’s first crus and, in 1967, to the production of Roero Arneis as a single-varietal wine. Since 2016 the property has been owned by the Krause family, who have continued the winery’s development while respecting its identity and historic vineyards.
Production philosophy
An approach combining artisanal tradition with a focus on sustainability: meticulous vineyard care, minimal interventions, selective winemaking and the enhancement of individual vineyards to express the terroir in the bottle.
Terroir and vineyards
