More questions
This wine by Col Solare, which bears Red Mountain in its name, offers an intense yet measured profile. On the nose there are aromas of dark berries, accompanied by light spice notes and earthy hints. On the palate it shows structure and concentration without excess: tannins are present but well integrated and a freshness supports the sip. The overall balance favors an elegant interpretation rather than heaviness, allowing a pleasant aromatic progression.
It pairs with red meats, mushroom dishes and flavorful cheeses, as well as other robust preparations. It is recommended to serve slightly cool, around 16–18 °C, to highlight its aromas and acidity. With suitable cellaring it can retain good characteristics for a few years; however it is equally enjoyable if opened and consumed now. Indications about the producer and area appear in the name, while specific information on vintage and composition should be checked on the technical sheet.

The story
Col Solare was created as a partnership between the historic Antinori family and Chateau Ste. Michelle, with its first vintage produced in 1995. Over time the partners planted an estate vineyard on Red Mountain and gradually steered production toward Cabernet Sauvignon wines of pronounced structure and elegance, combining Italian viticultural and winemaking practices with the pedoclimatic conditions of the Columbia Valley.
Production philosophy
Uniting two winemaking traditions to produce wines of great structure, longevity and true to the fruit, with strong attention to detail in the vineyard and cellar.
Terroir and vineyards
The winery is located in the Red Mountain AVA, a small but warm subregion of the Columbia Valley known for poor soils, cool nights and concentrated grapes; these conditions favor the production of rich, structured Cabernet Sauvignon.
