More questions
La Pietra Chardonnay Toscana IGT 2018, produced by Tenute del Cabreo and distributed by Folonari, is a Chardonnay labeled Toscana IGT with ageing in cassa legno indicated in the name. In the glass it shows a bright straw-yellow, with a measured structure and balanced aromatic presence. The cassa legno reference suggests a restrained wood influence that complements the varietal character without overwhelming it, suited to those seeking a full-bodied yet approachable white.
On the nose there are impressions of white-fleshed fruit and citrus, alongside subtle hints of vanilla and toast. On the palate it is medium-bodied, with pleasant freshness and a saline texture that supports a clean, persistent finish. It pairs well with flavorful seafood dishes, shellfish, white meats and soft cheeses; ideal for informal lunches and dinners. Serve around 10–12 °C and enjoy within a short period to preserve freshness and varietal notes.

The story
The Folonari family has deep roots in the Brescia area and has been involved in wine production since the late 18th century. At the end of the 19th century the headquarters were moved to Brescia, and in the early 20th century the family acquired the historic Ruffino winery. In the 1960s Nino Folonari began a shift toward quality with the acquisition of estates in Chianti. In 2000 Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari established Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute, which brings together several estates in Tuscany, while the Folonari brand offers an extensive range of table wines and appellation wines.
Production philosophy
Enhance the production areas, combine tradition and innovation, and focus on grape quality to produce wines that are distinctive and closely tied to their territory; the company's plan includes investments in the estates and attention to the diversity of terroirs.
Terroir and vineyards
Headquarters and estates are mainly in Tuscany, with production and a presence also in north-eastern regions such as Veneto and in areas like the Collio; the company’s history begins in the Bresciano and includes references to territories around Lake Garda and beyond.
Awards and recognition
The "Vinitaly Territory Ambassador" award was presented to Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute.
