The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC from the Linea Contesa, produced by Az. Agricola Contesa, represents an excellence of the Abruzzo territory, known for its lush hills and ideal climate that imparts well-defined organoleptic characteristics to the grapevines.

Obtained from the Montepulciano grape variety, this wine offers intense aromas of ripe red fruits, such as cherry and plum, enriched by slight spicy notes and a delicate hint of undergrowth. On the palate, it is structured and harmonious, with soft tannins and a pleasant persistence that invites another sip.

The aging method, generally in steel or wood for short periods, is designed to maintain freshness and composed elegance, enhancing the authentic character of this Abruzzo classic. It pairs perfectly with grilled red meats, hard cheeses, and traditional local dishes, expressing the richness of Abruzzo's wine heritage at its best.

Winery history
Contesa was founded as a winemaking project linked to the Pasetti family; online sources describe the central role of Rocco Pasetti and his family in managing the estate. The cellar carved into the hillside was completed in the 2000s, and from there the estate developed several ranges of wines focused on the grape varieties typical of Abruzzo.
Production philosophy
Production aimed at enhancing the Abruzzo terroir and employing low-impact winemaking practices: selective use of wood, controlled fermentations, and attention to preserving the freshness of native grape varieties. Sources also report a commitment to sustainability and a transition to organic practices and environmental certification.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards in the Collecorvino area, on the hills northwest of Pescara: favourable south-facing exposure, clay-limestone soils and elevations of around 250 m above sea level; conditions considered suitable for Montepulciano and other local grape varieties.
