Let’s talk about Rosso Toscana IGT - Redigaffi - Tua Rita

More questions

Redigaffi is Tua Rita’s prestigious Toscana IGT, produced in Alta Maremma in the Colline Metallifere area. First made in 1994, it is crafted exclusively from Merlot grapes grown on distinctly clay-rich soils with a medium to high presence of stones. The grapes are harvested by hand and placed in 15 kg crates to preserve their quality and allow careful selection of the finest bunches.

After vinification, the wine matures for 18 to 20 months in first-use French oak barriques, followed by several months of bottle ageing before release. On the palate, it shows structure, concentration and depth, with a rich, enveloping profile of ripe dark fruit, spices, balsamic nuances and tobacco notes. Serve at 15-18 °C. Redigaffi is an excellent match for game, roasted red meats, braised dishes and mature cheeses.

Tua Rita

TuscanyItalySince 1984

A Suvereto (Tuscany)-based winery known for high-quality red wines, particularly the Merlot "Redigaffi" and its expressions of Syrah and Bordeaux-style blends.
Grape varieties
Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Sangiovese, Ansonica, Vermentino, Traminer, Riesling
  • Redigaffi: a single-varietal Merlot considered an iconic wine of the estate.
  • Giusto dei Notri: the Bordeaux-style blend considered one of the flagship wines.
  • Per Sempre and Keir: notable interpretations of Syrah.
  • Vineyards in Alta Maremma, Colline Metallifere.
  • International recognition and consistent presence in guides and reviews.
The story
The estate was established when Rita Tua and Virgilio Bisti purchased the property in Notri. Originally a family farming project, the estate gradually developed—planting international varieties and beginning to bottle in the early 1990s—and earned international recognition that prompted the winery to expand both its vineyards and its range of labels.
Production philosophy
Artisanal vineyard care and an uncompromising pursuit of quality: attention is focused on the precise management of the crus, grape selection and winemaking techniques aimed at expressing the terroir of the metalliferous hills of Alta Maremma.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are located in Suvereto, in the Alta Maremma/Val di Cornia area, on soils with a clay component and rocky content that contribute mineral notes and salinity to the wines.
Awards and recognition
International critical recognition, including the celebrated 100-point score awarded to Redigaffi and numerous high scores from wine publications.
