More questions
This Syrah and Merlot Toscana IGT offered by Folonari is a red wine intended for everyday drinking with a noticeable personality. In the glass it shows a compact ruby colour; on the nose it opens with aromas of ripe red fruit, a light spicy note and hints of blackberry and cherry. The structure is balanced: soft tannins, moderate acidity and a medium-bodied frame that supports the sip without weighing it down. It is meant to be enjoyed immediately, ideal for those seeking an accessible yet characterful red.
On the palate it confirms the aromatic impressions with an immediate, smooth progression; the finish is clean and invites another sip. It suits everyday dishes such as pasta with ragù, white meats and semi-mature cheeses, or for a casual aperitif. Serve at around 16–18 °C. No vintage is indicated in this product sheet; storage advice: consume young to enjoy its freshness, avoiding extended ageing.

The story
The Folonari family has deep roots in the Brescia area and has been involved in wine production since the late 18th century. At the end of the 19th century the headquarters were moved to Brescia, and in the early 20th century the family acquired the historic Ruffino winery. In the 1960s Nino Folonari began a shift toward quality with the acquisition of estates in Chianti. In 2000 Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari established Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute, which brings together several estates in Tuscany, while the Folonari brand offers an extensive range of table wines and appellation wines.
Production philosophy
Enhance the production areas, combine tradition and innovation, and focus on grape quality to produce wines that are distinctive and closely tied to their territory; the company's plan includes investments in the estates and attention to the diversity of terroirs.
Terroir and vineyards
Headquarters and estates are mainly in Tuscany, with production and a presence also in north-eastern regions such as Veneto and in areas like the Collio; the company’s history begins in the Bresciano and includes references to territories around Lake Garda and beyond.
Awards and recognition
The "Vinitaly Territory Ambassador" award was presented to Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute.
