More questions
The Tazzelenghe Riserva DOC Friuli Colli Orientali produced by La Viarte is a wine with a strong and decisive identity, characteristic of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, specifically from the heart of the eastern hills. This wine represents the essence of the Tazzelenghe grape variety, known for its robust tannic structure and intense aromatic expression.
"Tazzelenghe," which in Friulian dialect means "tongue cutter," is a name that alludes to the noticeable astringency of its tannins in younger versions. However, in this Riserva version, La Viarte's expertise in meticulous aging is evident through a velvety smoothness that harmoniously blends with the original power of the grape. The wooden aging not only softens the tannins but also enriches the wine's aromatic profile with notes of sweet spices, vanilla, and a light touch of tobacco and leather.
Visually, the Tazzelenghe Riserva showcases an intense ruby red color, with reflections that tend toward garnet as it ages. On the nose, it offers a complex bouquet where ripe red fruits mingle with elegant nuances of aromatic herbs and a mineral undertone. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, with excellent density and a tannic structure that promises excellent aging potential.
This wine is ideal for accompanying richly flavored dishes such as grilled red meats, game dishes, and aged cheeses. The Riserva DOC Friuli Colli Orientali by La Viarte, presented here in an impressive Jeroboam bottle, is perfect for special occasions, capable of elevating any culinary experience and providing unforgettable moments for wine lovers with its unique and unmistakable character.

The story
La Viarte was established as a production company in the Colli Orientali del Friuli and is recorded as having been founded in 1973. Over the years it has developed dedicated ranges and, in 2023, returned to public attention thanks to a new management phase with the arrival of the Polegato family, who relaunched the company while maintaining its focus on the local area.
Production philosophy
The winery places respect for the territory, the enhancement of native grape varieties, and a detail-oriented cellar approach at its core: targeted winemaking by type, selective use of oak for red wines, and limited production to emphasize quality and territorial identity.
Terroir and vineyards
The winery is located on the hills of the Friuli Colli Orientali DOC, near the border with Slovenia. The vineyards grow on marly-sandy soils, which impart structure and minerality to the wines.
