The village of CastelGiocondo is an ancient stronghold from the 1100s that dominates the historic Frescobaldi estate in Montalcino from above, built to defend the road that led from the sea to Siena. A fascinating and historic place that in 1800 was among the first four properties to first produce Brunello di Montalcino.

The estate is located in a special terroir for Sangiovese and for all the great wines that are born here; the vineyards are grown at an altitude between 300 and 400 m above sea level on well-draining soils with favorable south-west exposure.

In the vineyard, great commitment and obsessive care, combined with high densities and low yields, give rise to a great, elegant Brunello with admirable longevity.

It appears in the glass with a dark ruby red color; it offers the nose warm fruity and mineral scents, among which aromas of black fruits and nuts stand out. Soft tannins and a tasty, full-bodied finish conquer the palate, notes of ripe fruit and savory hints predominate in the mouth which ensure exquisite succulence.

A perfect glass throughout the meal, although it offers its best in combination with braised meats and fillets, excellent with mature cheeses.
