Winery history
The site of Château de Fesles has been regarded as suited to viticulture since the Middle Ages; the current residence was built in later centuries and has been restored several times. The estate is part of Anjou’s winemaking tradition and is now managed by the Helfrich family, who continue to promote local productions such as the renowned Bonnezeaux.
Production philosophy
Attention to quality and terroir, with practices aimed at respecting the environment: the estate promotes the production of wines distinctive of the territory, is beginning a transition to organic practices, and implements sustainable vineyard management measures.
Terroir and vineyards
Situated on the slopes overlooking the Layon valley, the estate benefits from hillside and plateau exposures; the vines of the "La Chapelle" parcel are described as particularly prestigious and well suited to Chenin intended for sweet wines, while the plateau supplies the Cabernet Franc grapes used for the reds and rosés.
