The Controguerra Bianco DOC Pecorino by Illuminati is a white wine that captivates from the first sip, representing an excellent example of how the Pecorino grape variety can best express itself in the Abruzzo territory. Produced with carefully selected Pecorino grapes, this label reflects the philosophy of Illuminati, a producer who, for generations, has been dedicated to enhancing native varieties by combining tradition and innovation.

To the eye, it presents a brilliant straw-yellow color with greenish reflections that indicate its freshness. On the nose, the bouquet is complex and intensely aromatic: notes of white flowers, green apple, and citrus blend with elegant nuances of aromatic herbs and a slight minerality.

On the palate, the Controguerra Bianco DOC Pecorino showcases a balanced and vibrant structure. The acidity is well-balanced and supports a palate rich in fruity flavors and a persistent sensation of freshness. The aftertaste is clean, with a pleasant memory of white-fleshed fruit and mineral nuances.

This wine is particularly recommended to accompany fish dishes, such as grilled calamari or seafood pasta, but it also pairs well with light appetizers and fresh cheeses. Thanks to its vivacity and freshness, it is also perfect as an aperitif.

Serve at a temperature of 8-10°C to fully appreciate its qualities. The Controguerra Bianco DOC Pecorino by Illuminati is not just a wine, but a true expression of the Abruzzo territory, capable of offering a unique and unforgettable sensory experience.

Winery history
The business traces its origins to the Illuminati family and dates back to 1890, when Nicola Illuminati began winemaking on the border between Marche and Abruzzo. Over the generations ownership and management have remained within the family; in the 1960s Dino Illuminati established the headquarters in Controguerra and expanded the vineyards in the historic area known as Zanna. Today the winery remains a family-run enterprise with multiple generations involved.
Production philosophy
Production focused on quality and a connection to the land: artisanal work in the vineyard and cellar, respect for local agricultural practices, and care of the processes from vine to bottle to express the identity of the Colline Teramane.
Terroir and vineyards
Colline Teramane — a hilly area between the Apennines and the Adriatic Sea, characterized by temperature variations and windiness that promote balanced ripening of the grapes.
