The Recioto della Valpolicella "L'Eremita" produced by Cà Rugate is a sweet red wine that embodies the excellence and winemaking tradition of the Veneto region. This DOCG wine is made from selected Corvina, Rondinella, and Corvinone grapes, manually harvested in the finest vineyards of the Tessari family, who have been devotedly cultivating vines for generations with passion and respect for the land.

The uniqueness of the Recioto della Valpolicella "L'Eremita" lies in its production method. After harvesting, the grapes are laid out to dry on racks in well-ventilated drying rooms for several months, losing part of their water content and concentrating sugars and aromas. Subsequently, the winemaking process involves slow fermentation, maintaining a delicate balance between natural sweetness and acidity.

The result is a wine with a deep ruby red color and purplish highlights. The nose opens with an intensely aromatic bouquet, rich in notes of ripe fruit such as cherry and plum, enhanced by nuances of chocolate and sweet spices. On the palate, the wine astonishes with its elegance and complexity, with a perfect balance between sweetness and freshness, and a long and pleasant aftertaste.

"L'Eremita" is ideal for pairing with desserts, blue cheeses, or enjoyed as a contemplative drink at the end of a meal. This wine encapsulates the essence of a unique territory and the dedication of a family that has worked for years to preserve and enhance the history and culture of wine in this magnificent area.

Winery history
The Tessari family has been cultivating vineyards in the area for over a century; the Ca' Rugate label first appeared on bottles in 1986. In 2001 Michele Tessari, the fourth generation of the family, launched a project to reorganize the estate and expand the vineyards, and the new winery in Montecchia di Crosara was inaugurated in 2002. Over the years the estate has developed wine‑tourism activities and created a wine museum to tell the family's agricultural history.
Production philosophy
Quality that begins in the vineyard is a priority: sustainable management and low-impact practices to enhance native varieties and the expression of the terroir. Since 2004 the estate has adopted more sustainable agronomic methods and demonstrates a commitment to traceability and preserving the local character. Since 2013 it has been part of Indipendenti del Soave.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are situated on the hills of Val d'Alpone and on land well suited to Soave Classico, Valpolicella and Lessini Durello. The soils have a volcanic and calcareous‑basaltic composition typical of the Soave area; some parcels lie on ridges and terraces with steep slopes and average elevations of around 400–450 meters above sea level.
Awards and recognitions
Numerous national and international awards, including several 'Tre Bicchieri' from the Gambero Rosso guide for the winery's wines, and medals/recognitions at international competitions also dedicated to mountain and heroic wines.
