The Monte Colombo Barbera d'Asti DOCG in Magnum format by Marchesi di Gresy is an exemplification of the excellence in the production of Barbera, an iconic grape variety from Piedmont, characterized by a profound aromatic intensity and an extraordinary aging capacity. Produced by one of the most prestigious wineries in the region, this wine represents the union between the rich Piedmontese winemaking tradition and a modern and evolved approach to winemaking.

Located in a privileged position in Piedmont, Marchesi di Gresy uses the best oenological techniques to enhance the Barbera vine, grown in carefully selected vineyards that enjoy an ideal microclimate and soils capable of best expressing the characteristics of the vine. The "Monte Colombo" is a tribute to the quality and typicality of Barbera d'Asti, offering a wine of great structure and complexity.

The choice of the Magnum format is dictated not only by the desire to celebrate special occasions but also by the idea that a greater volume can favor a more harmonious and slow aging of the wine, allowing it to develop an even richer and more multifaceted bouquet over time.

Visually, Monte Colombo presents itself with a deep ruby red color, with violet reflections that anticipate the youth and vitality of the wine. On the nose, the wine exhibits an intense aromatic range, dominated by notes of ripe red fruit, such as cherries and plums, enriched by nuances of spices, chocolate and an elegant touch of vanilla, evidence of the refinement in quality wood.

In the mouth, the wine is rich and complex, with a well-defined but soft tannic texture, which integrates perfectly with the characteristic acidity of Barbera, giving freshness and drinkability. The palate is invaded by flavors of ripe fruit and spicy notes, which lead to a long and persistent finish, with a light balsamic note that adds depth and pleasantness to the sip.

Ideal in combination with Piedmontese dishes, such as braised meats, roasts and mature cheeses, the Monte Colombo Barbera d'Asti DOCG in Magnum format by Marchesi di Gresy is also an excellent meditation wine, to be appreciated for its ability to express complexity and the elegance of the Barbera grape.

In conclusion, the "Monte Colombo" Magnum represents Marchesi di Gresy's commitment to producing wines that are at the same time an expression of the territory and of winemaking passion, offering a high-level tasting experience that satisfies the most demanding enthusiasts.

Winery history
The estate of Tenute Cisa Asinari has been linked to the di Grésy family since the 18th century; the family has owned the Martinenga cru since 1797. Winemaking under the Grésy label in its modern form was begun by Alberto di Grésy around 1973, when the family decided to produce wine exclusively from their own grapes and to promote wines that expressed the identity of the vineyards.

The estate places great emphasis on vineyard care and on respecting the grape varieties and tradition: winemaking aims to enhance the terroir’s expression without altering it, producing elegant, balanced wines that reflect the character of each vineyard.
Terroir and vineyards
The estates are located across the Langhe and Monferrato and include Martinenga, Monte Aribaldo, La Serra and Monte Colombo. Martinenga is regarded as one of the area’s finest geographical indications, and the grapes from all the estates are generally vinified at the Martinenga winery.
