The Valtellina Superiore DOCG Riserva - Nino Negri represents the pinnacle of the wine production of the Nino Negri winery, an excellence that summarizes the passion, tradition and wine innovation in Valtellina. This Reserve wine, selected from the best Nebbiolo grapes, locally known as Chiavennasca, is a tribute to the richness and complexity that only the terraced vineyards of Valtellina, embraced by the Rhaetian Alps, can offer.

Carefully matured and aged in wooden barrels for a prolonged period, this Riserva stands out for its deep chromatic intensity, a garnet red that heralds its structure and complexity. On the nose, the wine opens with a rich bouquet of aromas: notes of ripe red fruit, such as cherries and plums, intertwine with nuances of dried rose, tobacco, spices and a light balsamic touch, highlighting the harmonious integration between fruit and wood.

In the mouth it demonstrates a robust body and an elegant tannic structure, balanced by a lively acidity that gives freshness and promises long aging potential. The palate is enveloped in intense and persistent flavors, which reflect the olfactory sensations and evolve towards a long and rich finish, with an inviting mineral vein that recalls the unique terroir of this historic wine-growing region.

Ideal for special occasions and to accompany rich and structured dishes, such as grilled red meats, game dishes, mature cheeses and complex dishes of traditional cuisine, this Riserva is also a magnificent meditation wine, which invites you to discover and appreciate the finer and deeper details.

Company within Gruppo Italiano Vini.
Winery history
Founded by Nino Negri and with deep roots in Chiuro, the winery has more than a century of history. The company website records historical milestones, from the 15th‑century palazzo that houses the winery to the company's official registration and subsequent phases of growth; in recent years Nino Negri joined Gruppo Italiano Vini and has benefited from the work of prominent oenologists who contributed to the winery's qualitative development.
Production philosophy
The winery aims to highlight the distinctive character of Chiavennasca through mountain viticulture, careful selection of cru and winemaking techniques that reflect the valley’s microclimatic and soil variations. It combines local tradition with modern methods to produce wines that express the territory.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are in Valtellina, cultivated on steep terraces with dry-stone walls in historic subzones such as Sassella, Grumello, Inferno and Valgella. The soil is often shallow, rich in schist and quartz fragments; exposure and a wide diurnal temperature range give the wines structure, acidity and minerality.
Awards and recognitions
The Valtellina Sfursat 5 Stelle 2021 by Nino Negri has been awarded the "Tre Bicchieri" distinction in Gambero Rosso’s Guide to Italian Wines.
