The brewery was founded in 2007 by the passion of the master brewer Raimondo Cetani: the H stands for "home brewer", while ibu is the international unit of measure of bitterness.

In 2003, Raimondo buys the first plant from a restaurateur, and involves three friends; four years later, Hibu becomes a real brand.

In 2015 Hibu moved to Burago di Molgora (Mb), Lombardy, the current headquarters of the micro brewery and Raimondo decided to devote himself full time to the world of beer.
