Winery history Cantina Tramin

Founded in 1898 by Christian Schrott as a cooperative project to support mountain winegrowers. Merged in 1971 with the Cantina Sociale of Egna; a quality-focused shift began in the 1990s with winemaker Willi Stürz. The winery premises were renovated and completed in 2010. The Epokale lineup was launched in 2018.

Production philosophy

Focus on quality and terroir expression: rigor, dedication, trust and creativity. Strong emphasis on aromatic varieties (notably Gewürztraminer) and on premium vineyard selections (Selezione range).

Terroir and vineyards

Vineyards concentrated around the municipality of Tramin and nearby sites (e.g. Söll/Sella, Nussbaumer, Mazzon, Glen). Total vineyard area cited on the website: ~270 ha; soils calcareous, gravelly and on porphyry; altitude in the area roughly 250–850 m. Some single-vineyard selections (Epokale) come from specific sites such as Nussbaumer and Söller Hof.

Awards and recognitions

Among the awards and mentions: Stoan; recognitions such as "Tre Bicchieri" for the Gewürztraminer Nussbaumer; the Gewürztraminer Terminum singled out as Wine of the Year; citations in international competitions; and the wine Epokale awarded significant scores by the international press.
