The house was founded thanks to Gilbert Gruet’s initiative: building on his activity as a récoltant‑manipulant, he helped establish the SCA/Union Vinicole des Coteaux de Bethon in 1967 to bring local growers together. The facility carried out pressing, winemaking and bottle ageing for the members and for the G. Gruet & Fils brand. Gilbert Gruet passed away in 1999, and the cooperative continued operating, developing its network of members.
Production philosophy

Terroir and vineyards
Located in Bethon, in the southwest of the Marne department, on predominantly chalky soils. The territory lies within the Champagne region, with ties to the Côte des Blancs and the Côte de Sézanne.
