Winery Louis Guntrum

The Guntrum family has been involved in viticulture since 1648. Their business activities can be traced to documented operations in the 19th century, and the company is registered as originating in 1824. In the early 20th century the operation consolidated along the Rhine in Nierstein; today it is still managed by family members.

A terroir- and quality-focused approach: winemaking aimed at expressing each vineyard, attention to sustainability as a way of working, and valuing time and patience in the cellar.

Based in Nierstein, in the Rheinhessen wine region, the winery operates vineyards in the noted sites of Nierstein and Oppenheim. The soils mentioned include red sandstone, limestone, silt and clay typical of the Roter Hang and the surrounding hills.
