In 1985, Josep Mitjans, part of the family’s fourth generation of winegrowers, began producing cava on the family estate. He registered the Loxarel brand in 1987; Teresa Nin joined the company in 1989.

Production philosophy
The winery practices organic and biodynamic viticulture and says it works with respect for the vineyard, keeping interventions and additions to a minimum. For Vintage Brut Nature, it specifies the traditional method and no dosage.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate and winery are at Masia Can Mayol in Vilobí del Penedès. Vintage is made from Xarel·lo, Macabeu and Chardonnay; the producer’s product sheet specifies estate-grown grapes.
