Discover the story, territory and wines of Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons.
A winemaking joint venture between the Rupert and Rothschild families, based in the Franschhoek Valley (South Africa); known for a limited selection of Bordeaux-style wines and for the Baroness Nadine Chardonnay.
The estate was established through a collaboration between the Rupert family and the Rothschild family. The project was launched in the late 1990s with the aim of combining "Old World" experience and "New World" dynamism. The estate is located on the historic Fredericksburg farm in the Franschhoek Valley, an area with a long winemaking tradition.
Production philosophy
Focus on quality through a limited range: the winery concentrates on a few labels to devote time and attention to every stage of the winemaking process. The winemaking approach draws on Bordeaux principles combined with modern methods, with an emphasis on balance, finesse and respect for the fruit.
Terroir and vineyards
Situated in the Franschhoek Valley at the foot of Simonsberg, the winery benefits from mountain exposures and terroirs typical of the Western Cape for international varieties such as Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet.
