Ramazzotti Distillery

It was 1815 when a young entrepreneur and aspiring herbalist, Ausano Ramazzotti created a blend of ingredients from all over the world in a small laboratory, including Italian sweet orange peel, gentian, rhubarb, turmeric and rosemary.

With the aim of creating a flavored liqueur that could be enjoyed at any time of the day, Amaro Ramazzotti was born, a compound of 33 spices, flowers, fruits and herbs whose recipe is still kept secret and handed down from generation to generation.

Success was not long in coming and after a few years the first bottles of Amaro Ramazzotti began to appear everywhere in bars and lounges in Milan.

In 1848 Ausano inaugurated his first bar where clearly the protagonist was his Amaro: the first Italian liqueur not based on wine.

Ausano died leaving a prosperous company to his family, the Ramazzotti brothers. Unfortunately, during the Second World War following the bombings the distillery was completely destroyed; but the family was determined to rebuild it and carry on the family tradition.

Starting from the 1960s and 1970s, the Ramazzotti product family expanded with Amaro Menta and Sambuca Ramazzotti. In 2015 the Ramazzotti brand celebrated its 200th birthday and launched the Rosé Aperitif.

Today the brand is part of the Pernod Richard Group.
