The origins of the Bara family date back to 1600, coming from the villages of Bisseuil, Oiry and Chouilly. In 1833 Auguste François Bara arrives in Bouzy, a young man full of enthusiasm ready to start his career as a cooper who three years later will marry Annonciade Robert, already owner of vineyards. 

The Maison was founded in 1860, at first it was a farm with stable, stable, sheepfold and cellar. In 1965 the barn was transformed into a wine press and cellar. Paul Bara was the first of the dynasty to sell Champagne under his name in the 1950s. A man of character and deep convictions, Paul had the habit of repeating: "you have to keep the fields in order to eat". He has also written a very interesting book that traces the life of Bouzy, his "beloved" village, his men, their wines and their cultures.
