Canaïma is an Amazon-inspired gin produced for the international market and made at the facilities of Destilerías Unidas S.A. (DUSA) in Venezuela. It is characterized by the use of selected Amazonian botanicals and a small-batch production process.
The Canaïma brand is produced at the facilities of Destilerías Unidas S.A. (DUSA), a Venezuelan company with industrial origins dating back to 1959. The gin project originated from the search for characteristic Amazonian botanicals and extracts and from the desire to combine local tradition with artisanal distillation techniques within DUSA's production capacity.
Production philosophy
Canaïma aims to highlight Amazonian botanicals gathered in collaboration with local communities, combining exotic ingredients and traditional gin botanicals to create a distinctive aromatic profile. The brand also states a social and environmental commitment, allocating part of sales to projects for indigenous communities and Amazon reforestation.
Territory
Produced with botanicals harvested in the Amazon and distilled in the state of Lara, Venezuela (DUSA facilities in La Miel).
Production method
According to the producer, the botanicals are macerated individually in neutral agricultural alcohol and then distilled separately in copper pot stills in small batches. The individual distillates are then blended to obtain the final gin profile.
Distillation
Individual maceration of botanicals in neutral alcohol, separate distillation in copper pot stills in small batches, and subsequent blending of the distillates.
