Production method
Processing of apples harvested from the estate orchards into cider, juice, Pommeau and Calvados; activities include pressing, cider fermentation, distillation and barrel aging. The farm has facilities and premises (press, still, cellars and barrel rooms) visitable by appointment.

Double distillation in a discontinuous copper pot still (specified for the Calvados).

Producer history Le Lieu Chéri
Le Lieu Chéri is a family business active for four generations of the Desfrièches family. The first cider sales date back to the 1930s; in 1946 production expanded to Calvados A.O.C. Pays d'Auge to allow bottled commercialisation. Subsequent generations followed (Fabrice joined in 1971, Alexandre in 2005) with production updates, and in 2018 the farm obtained the Haute Valeur Environnementale (H.V.E.) certification.
Production philosophy
Production oriented towards respect for the territory and traditional practices: promotion of local apples and on-farm processing with attention to quality, transparency and a short supply chain; open to the public through on-site sales, visits and tastings.
