Distillation and production

Distillation and production

Production method

Primarily steam distillation for grappa production; for certain premium grappas discontinuous distillation is carried out in small copper boilers. Gins are produced with roughly 100 L copper stills using a bain-marie technique. Pomace is stored in controlled environments prior to distillation.

Distillation

Steam distillation for grappas; discontinuous distillation in small copper boilers for selected productions; 100 L copper stills with bain-marie for gins.

Ageing

Wood ageing in a dedicated warehouse (barrique, tonneaux, Slavonian oak casks); some products are aged from a few months up to several years depending on the label.

Producer history Maschio Berniamino

The Maschio family has been linked to distillation for generations: the documented history of the group dates back to the late 19th century. Beniamino Maschio founded the business in San Michele di Feletto; today the company is managed by subsequent generations (including Alessandro and Flavia Maschio) and has expanded its production scope through acquisitions such as Distilleria dell'Alpe and the De Bernard winery.

Production philosophy

Combines artisanal tradition with modern processes: enhancement of single-varietal pomace, wood ageing for reserves, attention to sustainability (use of solar energy and reuse of pomace for energy production) and production of differentiated ranges (grappa, gin, traditional liqueurs).

Territory

San Pietro di Feletto / hamlet San Michele (province of Treviso), Conegliano‑Valdobbiadene area, Veneto Region (Northeast Italy).
