Founded in 1817 by Captain Hugh Munro. Passed through various lessees and owners in the 19th–20th centuries; sold to Distillers Company Ltd (DCL) in 1933. A new 'A Side' was built in 1970; the B Side was silenced in 1984. A mash filter was fitted in 2000. Owned by Diageo since 1997; the site has undergone expansions and capacity‑increase projects in the 21st century.
