Brezza’s Barolo DOCG comes from vineyards located in the municipalities of Barolo, Monforte d’Alba and Novello, in the southwestern part of the production area. The vineyards lie at approximately 300 metres above sea level on clay-silt, sandy and silty soils. This wine is made from Nebbiolo grapes, Lampia subvariety, trained using the traditional Guyot system. The combination of different soils and microclimates contributes to a harmonious Barolo, expressing the characteristics of its territory with balance and clarity.
The wine is produced with a shorter maceration than the Barolo made from the family’s great single vineyards. It then ages for two years in large Slavonian oak casks ranging from 1,500 to 3,000 litres, which are neither new nor toasted, followed by a further year of bottle ageing. Among the Barolo wines produced by Brezza, this cuvée is particularly approachable for consumers discovering the varied world of the appellation for the first time. Although it has less structure than the estate’s crus, it is generally expressive on the nose and notably elegant even in its youth.
