Bin 2 - Penfolds is a distinctive red wine produced by the famous Australian winery Penfolds, known for its excellence and innovation in the world of wine. This wine is part of Penfolds' renowned 'Bin' series, which includes a selection of wines produced from high quality grapes, carefully selected from the best vineyards in Australia. The "Bin" series stands out for the unique expression of each wine, the result of the combination of varietals, winemaking techniques and terroir.

Bin 2 was first introduced in 1960 and is characterized by being a blend of Shiraz and Mourvèdre (also known as Mataro in some regions of Australia). This combination offers a wine that combines the richness and intensity of Shiraz with the structure and complexity of Mourvèdre, resulting in a product of great character and depth.

At sight, the Bin 2 by Penfolds presents itself with an intense and deep red color. On the nose, the wine unfolds a complex and inviting aromatic range, with notes of ripe red and black fruits, such as plums and blackberries, enriched by nuances of spices, aromatic herbs and a light touch of vanilla and chocolate, deriving from the aging in barrique of oak.

In the mouth, the wine offers a solid and well-balanced structure, with soft tannins and a lively acidity that supports its fruity and spicy expression. The presence of Mourvèdre contributes earthy and leathery notes, which integrate harmoniously with the generosity of Shiraz, leading to a long and persistent finish.

Ideal in combination with robust dishes, such as grilled red meats, rich stews and mature cheeses, Bin 2 - Penfolds is a wine that demonstrates Penfolds' versatility and ability to produce harmonious and complex blends, capable of satisfying the palate of enthusiasts and collectors.

Winery history
Penfolds was founded in Magill when Christopher and Mary Penfold planted the first vines in 1844. Over the decades the winery grew from local production of fortified and table wines to an international presence, with key moments such as the arrival of Max Schubert and the experimentation that led to the creation of the famous Grange in the 1950s. Today Penfolds combines tradition and innovation, continuing to nurture historic vineyards and select fruit from many regions for its flagship wines.
Production philosophy
The company's approach combines technical rigor and creativity: Penfolds prioritizes the pursuit of the "house style" through site selection, cellar experimentation and a vision that brings together science and craftsmanship to produce age-worthy, distinctive wines.
Terroir and vineyards
Historic headquarters in Magill, with sourcing from many Australian wine regions including Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Coonawarra, Adelaide Hills, Eden Valley, Clare Valley, Wrattonbully and also cooler areas such as Tasmania. Penfolds also has international projects and fruit sources, for example Napa Valley in the United States.
