The Calvados 1972 Millésime Pays d’Auge Calvados Cask by Drouin is a spirit that encompasses over four decades of tradition and patient refinement. Originating from the renowned Pays d’Auge area, the heart of Normandy, this excellence is obtained from a skillful selection of local apples, typical of this unique terroir. The grape variety, or rather the variety of apples used, gives this Calvados intense fruity notes and a fresh and authentic character, enhanced by triple distillation in copper stills according to the tradition of the maison Drouin.
The aging in oak barrels, extended over many years, provides the product with a complex bouquet, intertwining hints of vanilla, sweet spices, baked apples, and a touch of honey, all balanced by a pleasant oxidative veil that tells the story of the long maturation. The texture is smooth but vigorous, with a persistent and slightly warm finish, perfect for those who appreciate spirits with body and personality.
This Calvados pairs magnificently with apple-based desserts or aged cheeses, but can also be enjoyed alone, in contemplation, as a true tasting ritual. A historic masterpiece that celebrates Norman excellence.
