The Chateau-Grillet Monopole of Chateau-Grillet is a white wine of rare exclusivity, produced in a small denomination of the Rhone Valley, renowned for its limited and highly specialized production. This wine is famous for its distinctive aromatic profile and elegant structure. The Chateau-Grillet Monopole is made exclusively from Viognier grapes, which bestow this wine with intensely floral and fruity scents, with hints of peach, apricot, and delicate nuances of aromatic herbs and vanilla. On the palate, it is rich and creamy, maintaining a freshness and acidity that perfectly balance its aromatic complexity. Maturation in barriques adds an additional layer of light toasting and an elegant mineral aftertaste. Ideal as an accompaniment to rich fish dishes, shellfish, or as a refined aperitif. A true gem for connoisseurs, reflecting the uniqueness of its terroir.

Discover the story and wines of Château-Grillet.

A small, historic monopole appellation in the northern Rhône Valley, famous for a single white wine produced exclusively from Viognier grapes.
Region: Vallée du Rhône settentrionale (enclave in Condrieu)
Country: Francia
Grapes: Viognier
Appellation monopole: a single owner/producer for the entire AOC Produced exclusively from Viognier Very limited surface area: approximately 3.5 hectares. Appellation established on 8 December 1936. Acquired by Artémis Domaines in 2011.
Winery history
The vineyard and estate of Château‑Grillet have deep historical roots and have been owned for centuries by local families. The area was granted appellation d'origine contrôlée status on 8 December 1936. In June 2011 the property was acquired by the Artémis Domaines group. In recent years the production regulations and technical management have been updated, while preserving its monopole status and the very limited production typical of the appellation.
Production philosophy
The production aims to express the distinctive character of the small terroir: vinifying Viognier to emphasize the balance between aromatic richness and minerality, with careful vineyard management on steep slopes and cellar practices focused on quality rather than quantity.
Terroir and vineyards
Located on the right bank of the Rhône, immediately south of the Condrieu appellation, the Château‑Grillet area occupies steep, predominantly granitic terrain between the communes of Saint‑Michel‑sur‑Rhône and Vérin in the Loire department. The vineyard faces mainly south and is terraced and sheltered by the river.
